Stormwater Management

In continuous efforts to protect our local waterways, the City of Maize would appreciate if you call to report stormwater pollution or polluting activities.

Please call 316-722-7561 to report any of the following:

  • Individuals dumping anything in a storm drain, ditch, stream or creek.

  • Individuals changing oil, antifreeze, rinsing paint brushes, or washing vehicles and allowing it to drain to the curb or storm drain.

  • Excessive dirt or mud on roadways from construction sites.

  • Polluted water (unnatural color, glossy sheen on water, dead fish).

  • Overflowing sanitary sewer manholes.

  • Illegal connections to storm drains such as processed water or wash water.

  • Individuals sweeping large amounts of grass clippings or leaves into the street, storm drains, drainage ways, or creeks.

  • United States Environmental Protection Agency Nutrient Pollution Video

Maize City Hall can be contacted 24 hours a day. City Hall hours are 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday. If calling after hours, please leave your name, contact number and a detailed message and we will get back to you on the next business day.

Callers will be asked to leave a detailed report to be investigated. Emergencies, such as chemical and fuel spills, should still be reported to 911.

The purpose of this is to decrease the amount of illicit dumping into our local waterways by investigating sightings and working with the community to enhance our quality of water. Water that runs through the storm drain is not treated before it reaches our creeks and streams. We can all do our part to keep our waterways clean!
