Crime MapThe Maize Police Department is now providing crime mapping through crimereports.com.  Citizens can now track crime in their neighborhoods online with a simple click of the mouse.  Crimereports.com identifies crimes reported to the Maize Police Department over the most recent six month period by placing an icon on top of a map of the City of Maize showing the general location of the crime reported rounded to the nearest hundred block.  Each icon represents a different type of crime.  Users can obtain more information by clicking on the icon which will then add a pop-up window with more specifics about the offense including the date and time reported, specific type of crime and Maize Police Department case number.  In addition, registered offenders are also identified on the map by a unique icon that, when clicked on, will provide the name and photograph of the offender and additional information.  Finally, residents can sign up through crimereports.com to receive alerts via e-mail when reported crimes occur near where they live.

The Maize Police Department will upload reported crimes to crimereports.com on a monthly basis or more frequently if warranted.  Should anyone have information about a reported crime, they can either contact the Maize Police Department during regular business hours at 316-722-1433 or anonymously through Wichita/Sedgwick County Crime Stoppers at 268-4111 or online at https://www.tipsubmit.com/WebTips.aspx?AgencyID=217.  Please provide the Maize Police Department case number with your tip.

When crimereports.com first loads you may not initially see any reported crime icons on the map.  Follow these instructions:

  2. Use the calendar on the left under From to go back six months.  Note: Date in which data is available are in bold.  Select the furthest date in the past possible or any date between and click the orange "Apply" button directly beneath the calendars.

  3. Next click the blue "Crimes" button next to the calendar icon you click on to display the calendars in step 1.  Check all boxes for reported crimes you are interested in viewing or click the "Show All" link near the bottom of the window then click the orange "Done" button.

  4. Each icon displayed on the map represents a unique type of reported crime.  To view more information for that crime click on the icon.
